Self-Value... How It Affects Our Health....

Well, how fitting that I write this on Valentine's Day! Don't do Valentie's Day? Eh, me either. I'm not a big holiday person let alone the hallmark holidays. HOWEVER... Who better to celebrate on the day of love than OURSELVES?!? I'm serious. We all need to love ourselves more. Our own self worth, our value plays a HUGE role in our own health. How is that?

Our self-value has a powerful effect on our physical health. When we have positive self-worth, we are more likely to take care of our bodies and make healthy lifestyle choices. When we have low self-worth, we are more likely to engage in unhealthy behaviors such as overeating, making not great nutrition choices, smoking & drinking. Additionally, having a healthy sense of self-value can help us cope better with stress and difficult emotions, which have a beneficial effect on our physical health.

Low self worth can affect our behavior in a variety of ways. It can lead to us feeling insecure and anxious, making us hesitant to take risks or try new things. We may also focus on our perceived weaknesses or flaws rather than our strengths and successes. This can lead to us feeling like we are not good enough, leading to self-sabotaging behavior such as procrastination, poor nutrition choices & avoiding challenges. To combat this, it is important to focus on our positive qualities and strive to build our self-confidence. By recognizing our strengths and achievements, we can start to feel more positive about ourselves and our abilities.

Our beliefs are all in our subconscious minds

That's right, we might not even be aware of own beliefs that we have about ourselves. Our subconscious mind is a powerful tool that can shape our thoughts, decisions, and actions. It is an ever-evolving part of our being that is constantly learning and adapting to new information. Our subconscious works by taking in information from our environment and our experiences - good and bad, and then storing it for future use. It is an invaluable part of our lives and can help us make decisions based on the information it has learned. To better understand how it works, it is important to look at the different types of information it can process. This can include sensory information from our environment, memories from past experiences, and new information from our current experiences. The subconscious also processes our emotions, which can influence our decision-making and behavior.

Did you know that our subconscious mind is actually developed by the time we are 7 years old? Anything that has happened to us from birth till 7 years of age is ingrained into our subconscious. If you were ever told that you were not good at something at a young age, your subconscious may interpret that into thinking you aren't good at anything. Or that you are not good enough. If you grew up in a home that struggled finacially, you might grow up thinking that you don't deserve wealth. For example, if you were taught that money was the root of all evil, you could be subconsciously blocking yourself from ever making a lot of money. If you were told that it's in your genes to be fat, you may subconsciously believe you could never be a healthy weight. Or, that you may not be worthy of a healthy weight. Pretty incredible how powerful the mind is!!

This is why it is SO important to have the self value you deserve. And yes, we ALL deserve it.

Is it possible to improve my own self-value mindset? YES!!!

Boosting your self worth is an important step to improving your overall wellbeing. Here are a few tips that might help:

  1. Focus on your positive qualities. Make a list of things you like about yourself and things you’re proud of. Make sure to focus on your strengths, skills, and abilities. And REALLY dig deep here! You have so many amazing qualities that you might not even consciously realize. So get out that journal and just start writing all of the amazing things, even if they seem like silly qualities, they are unique and you should be proud of them.

  2. Take good care of yourself. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating healthy meals (don't worry, I can and will help you with what to eat), exercising regularly, and taking time to relax. Taking care of your physical and mental health will help boost your self-worth.

  3. Spend time with supportive people. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself. They can help you remember your positive qualities and provide encouragement and support. Don't surround yourself with "cancerous" or "toxic" people. They will always find ways for you to feel down.

  4. Practice self-compassion. Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, just like you would a friend. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you make mistakes and focus on the progress you’re making. Grace! Always give yourself grace. You are on a journey, no a marathon. Be gentle on yourself.

  5. Celebrate your successes. Take a moment to recognize and celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Acknowledge your accomplishments and give yourself credit for the effort you’ve put in.

Boosting your self worth takes time, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t see results right away. Keep focusing on your positive qualities and taking good care of yourself, and you’ll be well on your way to having a healthier self-esteem.

How having a positive sense of self worth will help my healing journey

Having a positive mindset is key to success in everything. If you believe you will be successful, you will. If you believe that you will always fail, guess what? You typically do. It helps you to stay focused on your goals, view setbacks as temporary, educational and solvable, and keep going even when things get tough. It also allows you to stay energized, motivated, and resilient, so you can take on any challenge that comes your way. A positive mindset can also help you to stay confident in yourself and your abilities, which can lead to higher levels of success. Finally, it can help to minimize stress and anxiety, so you can stay focused and productive on your path to success. All in all, having a positive mindset can be a powerful tool for achieving success.

Wheather you are changing your lifestyle to reverse hair loss issues, improve your health, prevent disease or simply trying to build a fufilling life for yourself, your mindset is what sets the stage for it all.

Affirmations: How they actually work

Affirmations are powerful statements that can help to reprogram your subconscious mind. When used regularly, affirmations can help to create positive thought patterns that can help to shape your beliefs and create positive changes in your behavior. Affirmations can be used to help you stay motivated, create a positive mindset, and achieve your goals.

To use affirmations effectively, start by writing down a positive statement that reflects the change you want to see in your life. For example, if you want to become more confident, you could write down a statement such as “I am confident and capable of achieving my goals.” Then, repeat the statement to yourself daily, either out loud or in your head, and visualize the outcome you are trying to create. With consistent practice, the affirmation will become part of your thought process and help to create lasting change.

I know that sounds pretty goofy, right? Believe it or not, it ACTUALLY works! Whatever your affirmation is, it needs repitition. Look at yourself in the mirror when saying your affirmations. Even though you may not consciously believe what you are saying, repeating it over and over again, you will. Your subconscious mind is very black & white. The more your subconscious hears a statement, the more it will start to believe it. Once your subconscious mind starts to believe it, you consciously start to believe it, too! Seriously, it's a beautiful thing.

So... Now what?

Now you have some tools to start loving yourself more. You may not have realized you needed to, but we ALL need a little reminder to love ourselves more.
